Wednesday 15 May, 2013 The big day, so far some lucky passengers have caught flights today. Union say, strike will eventually catch up, in other words it takes a while for industrial action to effect flights. Never seen this before. Strikes a strike. High police presence at Istanbul airports. Could it be union workers think other wise.

May 3, 2013 Union announce strike now being planned for Wednesday, May 15 on. Management state airline will still operate! If you have a booking with this airline, ask your travel agent to change it or direct to Turkish Airlines to change your flight. Last thing you want to do is get caught up in this mess. 

If you have a lay over in an international airport, make sure you have a visa for that country so you can stay in a hotel instead of a cot on the floor of international arrivals over night with someone with TB or worse coughing over you.

This is a bitter old dispute, both parties are hard heads and will not flinch. Thousands of passengers will be looking for a plane seat. Confirm your seat if you are on a competing airline!

Possible flights by subsidiary airline AnadoluJet might also be effected by the strike. 
Turkish Airlines flights to Russia to be hit hard. Turkish Airlines flies to 12 airports in Germany. Pegasus airlines flies several routes that Turkish airlines flies to and must be happy with windfall. Pay attention to any flight gouging. Ryanair and EasyJet may step up extra flights. Somehow I can't see Turkish State Railways adding more passenger cars.

April 24, 2013 Turkish Airlines bans alcohol on domestic flights. 

April 9, 2013 Old issue from last years firing of some 305 workers is still gnawing away at Hava-İş union. Some 14,000 of the 16,000 Turkish Airline workers belong to this union and they have the power to ruin your travel plans. Union looking for reinstatement of fired employees and TRY200 + 10% pay raise. Government offering 3%. Union to announce on Wednesday, tomorrow strike times and dates.

Turkish Airlines Strike
Tuesday 29 May Wild cat strike today at Turkish Airlines fires  128 domestic and international flights were canceled today leaving thousands of passengers to scramble at Istanbul airport Ataturk International. Flights to Germany, Frankfurt, London, Hearthrow and Amsterdam Netherlands hit the worst. Strike by airport workers, (union, Turkish Civil Aviation Hava-Is)   ground handlers, technicians eventually led Turkish Airlines to cancel some 100 or so flights.
